My name is Christean Volz, and I am a member of Sacred Heart Church in St. Jude Parish, where my children attended school. I have three adult children and am blessed with seven grandchildren.
My journey in catechesis began with the Sacred Heart CCD program, where I assisted as a catechist before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. This experience sparked my interest in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS). I completed and became certified in the Level One Formation class for ages 3 to 6 and attended Part 1 of the Toddler Formation class (for ages 18 months to 2 years) with the national group in Atlanta, GA. I eagerly look forward to completing the second part soon.
At St. Raphael's, I have served as a catechist for both Level One and the Toddler group. Earlier this year, I assisted with the Lent for Little Ones Toddler group at the Apostolate Center. The CGS program has profoundly impacted my understanding of the child's relationship with the Sacred and their participation in the liturgy, revealing their innate love for God. CGS has taught me to listen closely to the youngest children.
I bring over 35 years of experience teaching preschool children at Carnegie Mellon's Cyert Center, where I worked with a Reggio Emilia curriculum. I particularly enjoy learning alongside parents and feel blessed to work with Celine and other devoted catechists.
